Bierconvent International e. V. (BCI) honors traditional brewery Pott's
The traditional brewery Pott’s from Oelde has received the 2023/24 Honorary Award from Bierconvent International e. V. (BCI). The award was presented at an autumn meeting of the BCI Chapter NRW, Lower Saxony, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland.
The BCI is a worldwide beer fraternity that has been promoting beer as a cultural beverage since 1969. The association has set itself the goal of promoting social awareness and popular education about the 7,000-year-old drink through research, care and education. The BCI also aims to maintain the venerable tradition of beer and promote the enjoyment of beer as a noble beverage in cultivated conviviality.
The traditional brewery Pott’s, which has been in existence since 1769, was honored for its quality-conscious and sustainable production of specialty beers. The brewery is characterized by its new glass brewhouse, which illustrates the brewing process in a modern way. The brewery also has an integrated beer museum, which preserves the tradition and culture of beer for future generations. The brewery’s gastronomic concept offers fresh products from its own bakery and butcher’s shop in a friendly brewery environment.
The country consul of the BCI chapter Larsen Lüngen (stallmeyer) congratulated the Pott’s brewery on its award. He said: “Pott’s Brewery is a shining example of the combination of tradition and innovation in the German brewing industry. It shows how you can impress with quality, sustainability and regionality. I am proud that we have such brewers in our chapter.”
BCI President Pia Kollmar (Oettinger) also praised the Pott’s brewery as a worthy recipient of the 2023/24 honorary award, emphasizing the Pott family’s services to the BCI and beer as a cultural asset. The senior director Rainer Pott was enthroned (accepted) as a member of the BCI in Weimar in 2001 and has made a name for himself through his organizational work for the international BCI Friendship Meeting 2010 in Münster as well as through his regional and national association work. His son Jörg Pott has also inspired the members of the BCI with an excellent online tasting during the difficult Corona lockdown period.
The award winners were delighted to receive the award and saw it as an incentive to continue developing the cultivated enjoyment of beer as a refuge of tradition and good taste, especially in such fast-moving and sometimes difficult times. Jörg Pott accepted the award on behalf of his father Rainer Pott with great pleasure and appreciation.
The award ceremony took place during the meeting of the BCI regional chapter. In this context, the participants were shown Pott’s glass brewery, with brewhouse, restaurant and, above all, the “Rainers” showroom.
The BCI Landeschapter is looking forward to the next event on 09.02.2024, the joint visit to the costume session of the Cologne carnival society “Blomekörfge 1867”.
