Company portrait Sabine Weyermann

Sabine Weyermann, part of Weyermann® Malt’s nearly 150-year corporate history.

Brewing engineer and Upper Franconian “Queen of Specialty Malts”.

Sabine Weyermann is managing partner of Weyermann® Malz from Bamberg in Bavaria. In her 36 years in the business, she and her husband and co-managing director Thomas Kraus-Weyermann have managed not only to keep the family business afloat, but also to successfully position it internationally.

Weyermann® Malt was founded in 1879 as a grain handling and malt roasting company in Bamberg, Upper Franconia. A particularly detailed company history can be found on the malting website at www.weyermann.de. Today, Weyermann® is considered the guru in the specialty malt sector and sets the qualitative and price standards worldwide. The now approximately 260 employees deliver to 135 countries around the world, on every continent. In Germany, the family-owned company is the market leader in specialty malts.

Sabine Weyermann’s specialist studies as a graduate engineer in brewing have benefited her here, as have her enjoyment of languages and traveling. Her companions in the industry describe her as courageous, unwaveringly positive, fun-loving, determined and energetic. Sabine Weyermann regards especially great strokes of fate, such as the early death of her father or a major fire that almost destroyed the entire listed ensemble of the Bamberg malt factory, as challenges that have to be faced undaunted. Looking back on her professional years, they seem easy to her, which they were not.

Sabine Weyermann found her way to BierConvent International many years ago through brewer friends. She has particularly fond memories of the beer-related trips, during which her knowledge of beer expanded almost by itself. In the meantime, however, her business takes her abroad a lot, especially to the USA, an important market for Weyermann® specialty malts.

Sabine Weyermann finds peace and strength for her turbulent and internationally influenced everyday life in her historic forest village Dürrwies® in Lower Bavaria, while spending time with her Airdale terrier Vitus and in the circle of her family.
